Calibration of the illuminance meter is to JEMIC.

When using a photometer for measurement in transactions or certification, it is mandated by the Measurement Act to use a photometer that has passed inspection. In the Measurement Act, "transaction" refers to business activities aimed at the provision of goods or services, regardless of whether they are paid or unpaid. Additionally, "certification" is defined as the act of publicly or in business declaring that certain facts are true. <Relevant laws regarding photometer inspection (excerpt)> Measurement Act (Restrictions on Use) Article 16 Items that fall under any of the following categories (omitted in parentheses) must not be possessed for use in measurement based on legal measurement units in transactions or certification (omitted in parentheses): 1. Items that are not measuring instruments 2. Specific measuring instruments other than those listed below i. Specific measuring instruments that have undergone inspection conducted by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, the governor of a prefecture, the Japan Electric Measuring Instruments Inspection Institute, or an entity designated by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (hereinafter referred to as "designated inspection organizations") and have been affixed with the inspection certificate seal as specified in Article 72, Paragraph 1.
